It was warmer these past few days so my walking buddy and I decided to grab a late afternoon walk. The soccer fields are a perfect place for us to meet. After all, they are well lighted, full of people, and have great walking paths around the complex. Â
The sun was setting with clouds beginning to stream in from the distance. All of a sudden the celestial blues and whites became purples and pinks, then red, then orange. Paths of bright colors filled the sky as pink formed on the underbelly of the cotton candy like clouds. It was a spectacular site.Â

I have some dear friends I love to visit. I first met them after they followed us at our church in Bamberg after my husband died and they became the new ministerial family there. He, like my husband, got very sick while he was there and more than once almost died. Eventually he made a remarkable recovery and has been cancer free for years now.Â
After they retired they moved to Edisto Beach. He loves to shrimp and his wife could care less for it, so we became shrimping and fishing buddies over the next 20 years. Not that he didn’t have loads of fishing buddies, but we did manage to find some time during each year to go out in the boat at least a couple of times. I’ll never forget the time we went out one morning when it was so foggy you could not see your hand stretched out in front of you. Â
That, actually, was the best shrimping we ever did that day. Â

George called the other afternoon. He asked if I could give him some time on Thursday night to help at a science fair. I said yes and showed up last night about 5:30.Â
The school was packed. Judging had taken place earlier that day and everyone was coming for dinner and to see the science exhibit. Included in the evening events were four areas set aside in the gym for science related activities. George had the “Body Bubble Machine†set up at his site. Â
I had the “Racing Regatta†at mine. Â

In these days and times when excesses are at an all time high, it is critical to recycle. Â
I must admit I have been a recycler of things for years.  I often share my items I want to recycle by placing them at the side of the road in front of my house with a sign that says “free to a good home.†I have the most interesting conversations with people who – often out of curiosity – come to the door and ask about the items before taking them.Â
My most recent ventures in recycling is to take men’s ties and used wine bottles to create new items….namely pocketbooks and bottle lamps. Â
I have a link here to both of these above in case you’d like to see what I’m doing to encourage and support recycling while having fun and being creative. Just visit “Knot Hardly Done (tie handbags)†and “All Bottled Upâ€Â (bottle lamps). Â
Part of the proceeds for each sale is donated to “Sharing God’s Love†– an organization dedicated to helping families in crisis.  Â
Visit the site and enjoy what you see. Â
My wish for you today is that you make your surrounding and the world a little more green friendly.  Have some fun while you are doing it. Oh, by the way…feel free to share some of your recycling ideas here.  Together, we can make a difference a little at a time.

Relationships are, at best, a challenge. It takes a great deal of work to maintain even the most casual ones.Â
I have found myself needing to redefine a relationship recently. It’s been a great connection with many fond memories, but one that got a little sidetracked with some “challenging†issues that has created opportunities for growth with both parties.Â
