This past week, an awesome team of Occupational Therapists, Chelsea and Alex, started helping mom walk and be more physically active. The next big steps will be getting her physically back to strength, since she is indeed in remission with the leukemia. Read the rest of this entry »

Pierce Update #9

Hello!

 

Mom wants everyone to know that she has started physical therapy to help rebuild her strength. She’s having to learn how to walk again, and while It is exhausting, she’s looking forward to the results. They may move her to a rehabilitation facility to help her through this process, but that isn’t certain at this time.

Pierce Update #8

Hello,

Mom asked me to convey that she hopes everyone in the U.S. had a good 4th of July! I joined her for a while before going out myself to see the Houston Symphony Orchestra, which was quite cool. Our friend Fran had made a pot roast here and I brought some of that for mom, as well as some decorations for the 4th to hang in the room. Read the rest of this entry »

Pierce Update #7

Greetings!

Things are continuing to progress. Shortly after my last update I was informed that they wanted to do white cell donations for mom to fight off her infections. Her own white cell count has started to rise on it’s own, but in an effort to expedite her healing, they still want to do the donations.

Pierce Update #6 (Good News!)

Hello all,

Getting right to it, as Vicki mentioned previously, since my last update we found out that the “blasts,” or the leukemic cells in her blood, have dropped to 7 from when she started, when her count was in the mid 20’s. The doctors anticipate the possibility that they may drop to 0 and thus be in full remission by the end of this week, but even if not, this is a wonderful sign of progress.
