Pierce Update #10 (with a picture)

Hello all,

Some cool news!

This past week, an awesome team of Occupational Therapists, Chelsea and Alex, started helping mom walk and be more physically active. The next big steps will be getting her physically back to strength, since she is indeed in remission with the leukemia.

When I arrived at the hospital a few days ago, I got to mom’s room and she was missing. All of her stuff was still there, but she was gone. Egads! I found her (the nurses pointed me in the right direction, fear not) downstairs in the “Park” area of the hospital, playing the piano. She was elated to be able to play, and many people stopped by to say how nice it was and to thank her.

Since then we’ve gotten her out of the room a number of times, in great part due to the help (and humor) of Alex and Chelsea. She and I just made a trip out of the room to play cards, which I imagine we’ll be doing more often.

Below is a picture of us while she was at the piano. She had to have the gown and mask on since we were out of her room. Normally we (I, the staff) have them on for when we’re in the room.

Hope you’re all well.

Best,

Pierce
