Pierce Update #8

Hello,

Mom asked me to convey that she hopes everyone in the U.S. had a good 4th of July! I joined her for a while before going out myself to see the Houston Symphony Orchestra, which was quite cool. Our friend Fran had made a pot roast here and I brought some of that for mom, as well as some decorations for the 4th to hang in the room.

On the morning of the 3rd, Mom had a brief surgery to remove some infection areas on her skin, which went successfully. The 3rd was also the last day of giving white cells for now, as her counts have gone up so well that they aren’t even giving her shots to stimulate their growth anymore. Thanks again to everyone who inquired about donating!

It seems for now we’re in a sort of holding pattern, trying to get rid of all infections before the next step in her process begins. She’s handling this time well, and improving daily!I found out from our neighbors Sue and David that the hot water heater at home busted and flooded quite a bit of the first floor. Their help and quick action, as well as further action from my aunt, Carol, has helped expedite the cleaning process. We were led to understand that if we hadn’t discovered it more or less by the time we had, that the whole house may have been compromised. A lot to deal with, no doubt, but manageable!

We continue to appreciate the contact that all of you are making through cards, emails, and so on. It’s very encouraging for mom, and puts a smile on her face daily. Thanks, also, for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Best,

Pierce
