Recently I visited Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Known for the residence of the original Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell, I was thrilled to be able to go and spend some time there.![]()
As we arrived in the city early that weekend morning we began to see paintings that had been drawn on sides of buildings, plywood, corner stores, etc. Normally, one would call this graffiti…but this artwork was different.
I’ve been crossing the Delaware River over and over again this past week. I suspect it’s sort of like crossing the Savannah River between SC and Georgia if you live nearby there and go across to shop or work.
If you’re a South Carolinian you know the rest of that song. But what if you live in a different part of the country?
I have to admit that, when I think of the northern states, I do not always have the same fervor for them.
My mind has changed in the last few days.
It’s fun to go on a long trip. I started a 12 hour driving venture with my sweetheart.
Since it was such a long trip we decided to drive six hours and wound up in Staunton, Virginia.
As I’ve gotten older, I like to stay in hotels less and less. There’s just something about staying in a place that you know many folks have stayed in before you. “No matter how clean it looks,†I thought to myself “it’s not as clean as you want you place to be when you’re sleeping and living in it.â€
