Nothing Could be Finer Than to…
If you’re a South Carolinian you know the rest of that song. But what if you live in a different part of the country?
I have to admit that, when I think of the northern states, I do not always have the same fervor for them.
My mind has changed in the last few days.
You see, I’ve been on a trip to New Jersey and am sitting on the patio at 7:00 a.m. as I write this.
I’m surrounded by huge hastas, hills covered with large purple irises, and flowers carefully planted in deck pots. 12 Canadian geese just flew overhead in formation, I hear a deer in the bushes nearby, and I’m watching a plump blue jay and a bright red cardinal skipping through the lush grass searching for a little food. There’s honeysuckle on the hill, blackberry bushes in full bloom nearby and doves cooing gently in the trees.
Its country at it’s finest.
Our hostess is an exception cook and gardener who works hard all day and then still manages to take me on trips through the countryside of NJ and Pennsylvania as well as to the big cities of New York and Philadelphia.
Though I’m a country girl at heart, I love going into the big cities exploring the sites, smelling the aromas often distinct to city life, and seeing all the different people so a little “big city†experience is right up my alley.
Yes, I suspect that no matter where you go in this country, you will find the same fine things…just different people and different surroundings…all with the same intent of living as good a life as possible.
My wish for you today is that you embrace life no matter where you find yourself and open your eyes to the good things and good people around you. Nothing could be finer…
