Rubber Ducky You’re the One

It’s fun to go on a long trip. I started a 12 hour driving venture with my sweetheart.

Since it was such a long trip we decided to drive six hours and wound up in Staunton, Virginia.

As I’ve gotten older, I like to stay in hotels less and less. There’s just something about staying in a place that you know many folks have stayed in before you. “No matter how clean it looks,” I thought to myself “it’s not as clean as you want you place to be when you’re sleeping and living in it.”

Well, my thoughts were challenged today. We decided on a hotel right off the interstate – a Sleep Inn. I had heard of that chain but had never stayed at one.

This place was different.

We were greeted by Bill at the desk. When he saw where we were from, he immediately started up a conversation about his father who had worked on the Amtrak commuter train years ago. He mentioned they stopped at Columbia and often had over 600 passengers on those long trips.

Bill was not the usual front desk man. He was actually quite pleasant and spoke to me each time he saw me…calling my name.

He said breakfast will be tomorrow morning…complimentary, of course. “There is wireless internet…” he said when I asked. “Complimentary.”

I smiled as I walked to the room. I placed my toiletries on the counterrubber-ducky.jpg and spotted a tiny yellow ducky on the sink with a note that said “Take me my friend, to remind you of where you’ve been…in hopes you will return again.”

Now I don’t know about you, but I like little rubber duckies and this one is really cute.

Will I go back there again? You bet I will.

On the way out that next morning after a pleasant rest and a great breakfast, we engaged the maids in pleasant conversation and mentioned that I just LOVED the ducky…next thing I knew, we had four more to go with the other one!

My wish for you today is that you have a pleasant experience with a hotel like we did…and that you, too, have a chance to add a little rubber ducky or two to your family!
