Sorry for the delay since the last update. A few days ago mom’s heart condition got to a point where they decided to move her elsewhere in the hospital. As a result they took her off of “PE” (Protective Environment). We do still have to wear gloves and masks, but not the rest. This move will continue to allow them a better view on her heart.

Just wanted to provide a brief update.
Â
The biggest news is that she finished chemotherapy early Sunday morning. Now continues the period of her blood counts getting lower so that they can rebuild themselves healthily.

Since my last update things had been relatively uneventful for a few days – things calmed down in and after she was in the ICU, and they moved her back to the leukemia floor.
Â
On Monday they encouraged her to get out and about, walk, etc – we managed to stay out of the room for about 3 hours, which was great. We played cards, met a nice couple both of whom had cancer and had been surviving with it since the 80’s (the husband) and the last 10 years or so (the wife). Very encouraging, they still have cancer and seem in great health. We stepped outside for a bit, and enjoyed the fsh in the various aquariums, as well.

When I think of 30 days and 30 nights I think of traveling in the vast countryside of a foreign country and spending the nights in a flowing tent with lots of pillows for lounging … eating grapes hanging over my head so I can just reach up and grab them in my mouth. There might even be someone fanning me [or having a fan(s)] nearby blowing those flowing tent covers gently to keep some breezes going. I’ve been in intensive care until late this afternoon. Â I am now in room P 603 on one of the leukemia floors at MD Anderson….feeling much better due to some special people with amazing skills.Â
