Reflections From a Country Girl

 

Hi everyone - 

 

Sorry for the delay since the last update. A few days ago mom’s heart condition got to a point where they decided to move her elsewhere in the hospital. As a result they took her off of “PE” (Protective Environment). We do still have to wear gloves and masks, but not the rest. This move will continue to allow them a better view on her heart.

The move was stressful, but she is settled in now. I had to put out a few fires here and there but that wasn’t a problem and all is well.  The address is the same save the room number, which is P713. Last few days have been a blur for her but she is very aware and sitting up today.  These next few days are when chemo will be the worst on her body, but we will do our best to keep you updated. As an aside, I have been giving platelets ever 48 hours, and that’s been helpful for her.

 

Joellen’s sister, Vicki, came in yesterday and she is glad to have her here.  Vicki spent the night with her las night and that went well. 

 

I’ve been doing all right on the whole. I’ve made some friends at the hospital, and also have close friends coming to visit over the coming weeks from Santa Fe, Los Angeles, and just outside of Philadelphia. Mom and I are both looking forward to their arrival. Those of you who know I enjoy history will appreciate that I’m making a trip to the VIP party for this event.

 

It’s as humid here in Texas as it is in SC, so I’m right at home weather wise. Biking 10 miles a day in it makes me feel like a Bayou superhero… or something. Now where’s my gumbo?

 

Many people have sent kind cards and gifts, and they along with your love are more than appreciated.
