Surrounded by Angels
I’ve been in intensive care until late this afternoon. Â I am now in room P 603 on one of the leukemia floors at MD Anderson….feeling much better due to some special people with amazing skills.Â
Now, I will not mention all of them here, but after I heard about the two that were on either side of me in the intensive care unit, Â one called Heather, one last night that I will call “Angel”a and then Lauren today. Â I will say that I have been surrounded by a host of angels. Â Some I met, but there were two I did not meet. They were the 10 and 12 year old ones on either side of me. Â
I did not meet the families since we were all in “isolation.” Â What I knew was that there was one that had been in intensive care since January. Â The other I saw being brought in late one of the first evenings I got there. Â Â
No one really “deserves” to be sick. Â Life is long for many of us, shorter for some of us, and painfully shorter for those of us who are young and find ourselves unable to live whatever a normal life is. Â
I do believe that God puts angels around us all the time…I believe I was surrounded by young angels while in intensive care. Â Then there were each of the three unique ladies that I found particularly gifted at taking care of me these past few days. Â They were each unique in the ways they used their special gifts to help be part of the team that helped begin the healing of my second round of pneumonia. Â The two on either side of me reminded me, without even speaking a word to me, that there are many young lives out there that find themselves struggling just to get to their teen years. Â In their own ways, they gave me, today, the inspiration through their courage, to be reminded that I have a had many good years to enjoy life and that I should remember to be thankful for those good years.
My wish for you today is that you look, carefully, around day by to to see where angels are in your life. Â I suspect they are everywhere and, if you look with an open mind, that you will find those nearby and be inspired by their presence.Â
