Takin’ a Walk on the High Side

My friend, Annette, and I love to walk on the dam.  It’s about a two mile walk from one side to the other with one view of the spacious Lake Murray on one side and a magnificent view of Columbia, South Carolina on the other.  Thank goodness the walking path is on the high side of the dam that is flat and separated from the vehicle traffic.

Beer BBQ with a French Flair!

 

I had Friday night reservations at Fleur-De-Lys Home Culinary Institute on Millwood Avenue for months now.  My friend, Becky, and I were going together but at the last minute she had to change her plans.  

Since I’d been telling my son about Fleur De Lys for quite a while, he agreed to go with me before work.  He was working the T-Mobile concert that evening so we parked his car in a spot nearby Five Points and headed to Millwood. 

I knew we were in for a culinary delight.  Chef Francois Fisera, owner extraordinaire, has such a fantastic talent for cooking and sharing his recipes with the participants.

We Need You Now, More than Ever

When Bill Green – a minister friend from Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, SC –  learned he was in need of a bone marrow transplant … another friend offered to help coordinate a bone marrow drive.  Now that Bill has learned that his siblings are not matches, the bone marrow drive is going to be even more crucial for him.

Getting Married During Hannah

Yesterday I helped my friend, Tyler, in last minute preparations for her wedding.  We had a bachelorette party of sorts the night before … wound up at Mama Mia’s for an evening of laughing with six others. 

With Hurricane Hanna coming in and it being a friday evening wedding, we weren’t sure it wasn’t going to be forced to be a candlelight affair so prepared accordingly.

He Peered into My Window Last Night

It was well after dark last night as I was about to close the french door blinds for the evening. He was peering into the windows…sitting completely still as he blinked at me several times. At first I was startled and then I was reminded I was having a visit from my night time friend.
