Down and Out in South Carolina – Part 2

I got a call in the wee hours of the morning.  It was a frantic call…a call from someone I did not know but who knew Jerry well and knew I could help if anyone could.

“He’s in a coma at the county hospital and they need someone from his family to come quickly.” the anxious voice said. “You were the only one we had a number for.  Can you get hold of the family?  Can you come?  They won’t let me sign papers to treat him.”

A Best Christmas Moment…at Least so Far

It’s was 6:45 a.m. here when I sat down to begin writing this. Everyone was still asleep in my house but me.  I had been on the phone early wishing my Aunt Mary in Wales a Merry Christmas.

This year, Father Christmas brought the best gift ever to me…at least thus far.  My brother, Jeff, was here with us for Christmas.  It’s been 38 years since we shared a Christmas together.
