Reflections From a Country Girl

Having retired recently, I find myself in a transition of sorts where my schedule is changing daily and my time for writing is often lost in the mix.  Taking care of a mother who is going to the doctor frequently, sometimes on a daily basis, makes for my schedule becoming increasingly abstract.  I am blazing new trails daily.

 During this transition, I encourage you to revisit my hundreds of reflections and find the one that speaks to you.  I will do my best to continue reflections…though I suspect they will appear weekly instead of daily.

 My wish for you today is that, when you find yourself in transitions, you embrace life with as much joy and patience as possible to find the often hidden beauties of the moment.

Last week I went on a cruise out of Charleston with a group of eight friends. We had a great time and are already beginning to plan for another one.

Irving Berlin wrote a cute song called “Sailor Song” in which he describes the sailor’s life. 

I am feeling like humming that song this morning.  Why you ask…though by now you know I hum songs a great deal of the time.

Kenny Chesney sings this song “Don’t Blink” where he talks about an old man who turned 102. He’s was asked what words of wisdom he man would share with the world. He says there are just two things you should do as often as possible…love and respect.

Seems simple enough, doesn’t it?

My mother, being the Welsh lady that she is, taught me early about this. Tea is not – just a cup of tea – but a whole dining experience.
