Sailing, Sailing Over the Ocean Blue
Irving Berlin wrote a cute song called “Sailor Song” in which he describes the sailor’s life.Â
I am feeling like humming that song this morning. Why you ask…though by now you know I hum songs a great deal of the time.
I am heading out to sea today for five days. I’ll be on the open ocean with 11 friends on an adventure of sorts.Â
We all decided recently to go on a cruise. We’re sailing out of Charleston and today is the day our ship comes in….literally. It’s been heading toward us from Boston and will arrive around two today. We can board at three.
I’ve been on a cruise several times before. Last time I was bored the last day coming back so my roomie and I bought a single bingo card for that last day of the all week bingo extravaganza and we won the jackpot. I will not be playing bingo this time. That last story is just way too good to ruin with any other unsuccessful bingo venture.Â
We are sailing for two days to an island – spending the day – and coming back Sunday. I’m sure there will be stories to tell but not sure I will be sharing that with you until I get back. Maybe we will be attacked by pirates, meet rough seas, catch a giant fish…who knows. I do know adventure awaits me and my friends and I will share those adventures with you as soon as possible.
My wish for you today is that you embrace life to the fullest, and as often as you possibly can – with good friends.Â
