When Things Don’t Seem to be Working Out

All of us have been there at one time or the other.  Some situations are more complicated than others.  Some are more easily resolved than others.

So how do you deal with things when they just don’t seem to be working out?

For me, I was just told late yesterday that my leukemia chemo was not working well.  I will be back in the hospital today for a much more intense chemotherapy – one guaranteed to take away the remainder of my hair but, hopefully, will take my cancer cells away and put me in remission.  Let’s hope so.

In my case, I am at the mercy of the doctors who I trust to do what they believe is best.  One always has the right to say no to treatment.  I am not at that point.

The good news about all of this is that my physical stamina – once a very real reason for me not to be able to have a transplant – has been resolved well enough for me to be able to get the transplant.  I must, however, be able to go into remission first – and stay away from infection with my low immune system.

Each of us has our own set of circumstances to deal with.  Each is just as important to us as mine is to me.  Each of us can draw from friends, family and faith to help guide and comfort us.

My wish for you today is that you deal with life’s circumstances effectively – no matter what it is.
