Reflections From a Country Girl

I love to go to yard sales.  There is always something I find as someone’s trash that turns into my treasure.  

I miss that, and so when I heard about the October 24th yard sale below I found myself wishing I would be able to be there, especially since it is in a familiar place that I know well and Corley Mill Road – as it was last time I saw it in February – is one of the loveliest roads to drive on in the Columbia/Lexington area.  

The people having this yard sale are friends and, I found out, that they are doing this in my honor to help out with expenses that are mounting and not covered by insurance.  They asked if I would put this info on the website and send it to friends and so, I am doing that in case you have something you want to donate for sale OR in case you want to be part of the party…and believe me, it will be a party as they will have fun doing it. 

These are some good people and their kindness in doing this is much appreciated.  That they would take the time to do this is amazing and we are so grateful.  I just wish I could be there to go through some of those treasures myself and join in on the fun.

Here is the info they shared with me…word for word…

“As many of you know, Joellen Cook, is at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX undergoing treatment for a rare form of leukemia.  Her son, Pierce, is there with her helping care for her.  Her expenses are growing and a group of us friends are hosting a yard sale on Saturday, October 24th at Bowers Nursery on Corley Mill Road.  If you have items to donate, please feel free to bring them by the Nursery and leave them on the front porch of the house and let George Cannon know they are there or contact me.  His number is 606-0032 or my numbers are below.  If you are available to help price items or help the day of the sale, let me or George know.  All items and help would be greatly appreciated. Not to mention spread the word to your friends who like yard sales!”“We appreciate Hal & Gina agreeing to help host the sale and we’ll need help in promoting the yard sale as well.  This means a great deal to Pierce and Joellen.”
