The Climb

I have to admit I am not a big fan of Miley Cyrus but she has this song out right now that made me stop and listen.  It’s called “The Climb” and it’s about dreams, people who sometime get in the way or make negative comments, struggles people go through, etc.

Her last words in the song are

keep on movin’

keep on climbin’

keep the faith babe

it’s all about the climb

keep the faith

keep your faith

It reminds me of the childhood story “The Little Engine That Could.” That story has probably stuck in our minds for many reasons.  When someone asks me – particularly in physical therapy – if I can do something I often respond with “I think I can, I think I can.”

Throughout our lives each of us is climbing somewhere as we try to reach our goals, live in our families and neighborhoods, be friends with those we care about, etc.  We all have things we hope to accomplish.

My biggest one right now – of course – is to recover from leukemia. I am grateful for each good day that I have as I climb toward that goal. There are also other things I am reaching for each day and there are many people along the way that help me climb toward those goals and encourage me.

So where are you climbing to?   Do you have goals?  Do you have dreams?  What’s holding you back from striving to be who you want to be or are called to be?

My wish for you today is that you keep keep on climbing and keep the faith.  Though it may change along the way, having hopes, dreams and goals make life exciting and certainly worthwhile.
