Better Than Ever
I made an unexpected visit recently to Providence Hospital. It was surprising to me and something I had not expected to be a part of as a patient since most of the time I go there to visit friends or relatives. Â
When I found myself heading there in an ambulance I was uncertain what was about to happen. I knew I had some issues that needed to be dealt with. I knew I needed some TLC from medical staff somewhere. I chose this hospital because of it’s reputation to treat my symptoms. I just didn’t know I was about to meet an exceptional team of health care providers on the 5th floor that would nurse me quickly back to health.Â
What I found there was a doctor that I trusted, other medical staff members that were doing their job well though they were dealing with many ill patients, and support staff that took care of the simplest of needs with integrity. I felt confident that they were working with me as diligently as possible to help me get better quickly.Â
No one wants to go to a hospital because they are ill. They just don’t want to be sick. Some of us feel we will do everything we can to stay away from a hospital as a patient. We hear, or have experienced firsthand, things that don’t seem right about treatment in hospitals. I can say that, having experienced poor medical services in the past with relatives, I was concerned a bit about going. Â
These staff members have restored my faith in the medical system. I’m sure it’s not perfect, but this staff came together in my time of need…something that I will appreciate for a very long time…something that we all hope will be there in our hour of need. Â
My wish for you today is that you or your loved ones never have to go to the hospital. However, if you do, I hope you find a staff as dedicated and caring to healing as they were for me at Providence.Â
