Serenaded by Over 50 Men on Friday Night

Friday evening some friends and I decided to have a picnic at Saluda Shoals Park at a place by the river called Eagles Arrie.  After all, the weather was perfect and fall was in the air. There was a weekend of activities planned called Unearth.

When we arrived, there were at least 50 men in the Palmetto Master Singers preparing to sing a variety of crowd pleasing songs.  They serenaded us for over an hour as we sipped on wine and enjoyed appetizers.

Friends were there from other areas of my life as well.  It was like a homecoming of sorts, complete with fall flowers, haystacks, and a well lit path in the field as well as an equally inviting one through the wooded area back to the vehicles.

Not only were we serenaded at the river, but at dinner afterwards our waiter sang his version of Josh Groban’s You Raise me Up.  It’s been awhile since a man sang to me. Friday night made up for that.

I don’t know about you, ladies, but men singing to me is worth a great deal.  There is just nothing better than a man who can sing and who shares it.

I do, also, appreciate a man who knows he can’t sing and doesn’t.

So there, I guess that means I appreciate men who both can and can not sing…for different reasons, of course!

My wish for you today is that you appreciate good singing wherever you find it…be it on a recording, by the river on a Friday night or by a waiter in a restaurant.
