Heading to the Big City
I have always taken an airplane when I travel if at all possible. This time, I am driving to NYC to pick up my son and his belongings. I set out on this adventure early Sunday morning. Â
About eight hours later I will reach my friends, Mike and Missys’, home near Washington. There I will visit with them, spend the night, and leave the next morning for NYC. I have never been to their home but have been to that part of the world before…particularly Manassas. It’s a part of the world rich in history.Â
I love driving and consider myself an assertive driver. I understand I will really need all those skills as I drive down the NJ Turnpike and into the city. Part of me is a little intimidated by the thought of it. The other part of me is excited to meet the challenge…especially with a South Carolina license tag on the car.Â
I’m sure to have stories to tell. Â
I had planned on renting a hotel room in Brooklyn for the night. My son and his friends had different thoughts. They want me to stay with them so I will be staying with a bunch of young men in their place. That, too, should be interesting. Â
Monday evening we go to hear “Paul Simon and Philip Glass: A Conversation†and then he wants to take me into the city for a bit of night life. Â
“Bring your walking shoes.â€Â He said.Â
I’m getting too old for this…
My wish for you today is that you step out of your comfort zone a bit when the time is right. Be safe, but be bold and experience life to the fullest.Â
