Emjoying the Uniqueness of Friendships

A friend called for a spur of the moment lunch yesterday.  I accepted and we agreed to meet at a favorite restaurant.

Now this is not just any friend.  This is one of my storytelling friends.  We always seem to talk about writing, storytelling events and other activities that use creative writing and speaking skills.

After ordering our food, my friend told me about a weekend retreat he and 300 others enjoyed at the Myrtle Beach area.  I enjoyed hearing about the event as I had been an active part of that church family in the not so distant past.

As I sat there and listened to my friend talk about the event, he pulled out a children’s storybook the speaker shared.  Before I knew it, he was reading poetry to me.

What a delight!  I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed that time together.  After all, when was the last time someone read poetry to you as an adult?

My wish for you today is that you take the time to enjoy your friendships and appreciate the uniqueness of each one…maybe even taking some time to read poetry to a friend.
