When Your Heart is Aflutter
It’s February and Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. It’s the time when many a heart is “aflutter.† That can mean different things to different folks. Â
My Aunt Sue has a birthday on February 14th. That was the day she came into this world. She is soon to be 87 and has a man in her life that is good to her. She’s never been married, but she has had a  life of men friends that have enriched her existence and have have been very dear to her.  I’m sure her heart has been “aflutter” more than once!
I’ve always thought she was a lucky woman to be born on Valentine’s Day.Â
Then there are the special times my heart is “aflutter†with the thoughts that my son is doing what he loves to do and is making it in the world. After all, every parent wants their child to succeed. I hear from Pierce, 25, daily and am happy to hear of his successes and challenges. It makes me feel good that he can share these things with me. We have a good relationship.Â
I took my mother to the doctor yesterday. She hadn’t been feeling good these last few days and, come to find out, her heart was “aflutter.â€Â That was not a good thing and they are helping her get that straightened out. She loves her heart doctors and they are so caring and supportive of her. If all doctors were that way, the world would be a better place.Â
Then, of course, there are the hearts that are “aflutter†because of a deep romantic love. I’ve had that in my life several times and I can personally attest to this being one of my favorite “aflutter†moments. I believe it’s very important to embrace those moments for they can end as quickly as they began. Â
My wish for you today is that you be aware of the “aflutter†moments in your life and make sure you do what you need to when they occur. If it’s romance – embrace it. If it’s a birthday – celebrate it. If it’s heart challenges – address it. If it’s children – be thankful for it. After all, life is rich and worth the effort. Â
