Strolling Through the Park One Day
I’ve been walking a great deal since I retired. Some days I clip off seven miles. For someone who was fairly inactive on the walking front before, that’s a great deal of walking. The more I walk the better I feel. I highly recommend it.
While reading my mail one day recently I saw an ad that caught my eye. It was for a walk in the park after dark. Â
Now it wasn’t just any ole park. It was Saluda Shoals Park down the street from my house. It also wasn’t just any ole night. It was the night before they opened up their holiday light display. Â
“Goodie!†I said out loud as I quickly called some walking buddies to see if they were up to adding more miles in their walking day. Â
There were five of us who made the commitment. The day was here and the evening was brisk. We met at the park, talked awhile and visited with other walkers and runners, and started the jaunt to see the lights. Â
There were some WONDERFUL displays and it was a great time to join in that walk with friends. Â
My wish for you today is that you take the time to go to Saluda Shoals this holiday season and see those lights. You can even stay in the car to see them and hear music as you drive. You’ll be glad you did.Â
