Lonely no More

Do you find yourself lonely from time to time? I often hear friends, both married and single, say they experience times when they feel lonely….even when they are around people.

I suspect we all feel that way from time to time. Rob Thomas sings a song called “Lonely No More” in which he contemplates loneliness and says he simply does not like it anymore.

It can be, at it’s worse, devastating…sometimes down right depressing.

There are a number of my friends that are widows and widowers. Then, there are others who chose to get out of unhealthy relationships, including marriages, that are far better off – even if they are by themselves. Recent studies say loneliness can make us live shorter and less fulfilled lives.

This is my take on loneliness.

It happens to us all from time to time. Sometimes, it happens due to death. Sometimes due to unhealthy relationships. It just happens.

When I find myself feeling that way, I find others to be around. I call someone and go out. I call someone just to talk. Sometimes I turn to my faith. I just do SOMETHING and I think that often helps us get to our next place…just doing something different.

My wish for you today is that you seldom find yourself lonely. If you do, make a call, go somewhere healthy with a friend, take up a new hobby, join a group, enjoy a movie, a play, volunteer, just walk….just do something so you don’t find yourself in a rut.
