Paypal Email not From a Real Pal…
Do you use the computer for ordering items through the internet? Are you a Paypal customer? If you are, be aware there are those out there trying to get your money and steal your identity by sending you a confirmation that they withdrew money from your account for something you did not order.
This morning I check my work emails early before I went to walk. There was an email that looked like it was from Paypal telling me they drafted my bank account for an item I had not ordered.
The closer I looked, the more I realized this was probably someone trying to reel me in to calling them and giving them my bank account number. Red flags included the wrong – but very similar – email address and a return email address that suggested I was in communication with someone who had a larger than normal private part.
I tried forwarding it on to the real Paypal office. It would not let me send the whole message….just a piece of it without any critical info. Then, I tried copying it and it would only let me copy part of the message. I finally, however, did manage to get a full copy which I will send on fax in a little bit.
These folks are sly and, if you are prone to reacting quickly without perusing things closely first, you may be pulled into giving info out you really should not.
My wish for you today is that you look closely and react wisely to any emails you get like this. There are mean-spirited people out there that do everything they can to steal your identity. This is only one of many ways…so be a savvy consumer and report suspicious emails to those who know how to deal with fraudulent situations.
