They Say it Comes in Threes

Five weeks ago I got an e-mail that a friend’s mother died.  She had lived a full life and would be missed by many.  She had a positive impact on others and her goodness would be remembered well beyond her passing.

Within a matter of days, the other spouse in that family lost her mother.  Same thing there…her mother had lived that same full life and definitely made a positive impact on the world.  Just last night, some three weeks later, the same couple lost another significant woman in their lives.  The 83 year old had worn out and passed quickly. They spoke of her lovingly in their e-mail to me.

What do you say when someone loses so many significant people in their lives at one time?  I am reminded of the family that was all but wiped away when they had an accident near Columbia.  One or two of the small children survived out of the family of seven. Then what of the families that are all lost at once in natural disasters or in war zones? My friends who lost so many loved ones are resilient.  They celebrate the lives of these three very significant women who had a positive impact on them and carry on as they adjust to the losses. My wish for you today is that you savor the moments you have with loved ones.  Let’s hope all of them live to be old and have fruitful lives full of love, living and laughter. Strive to be one of those who leaves a positive mark on the world so that, when your time comes, you will have made others’ lives more positive because you were part of their lives.   ~Joellen
