76 Trombones
I was reminded of that song – 76 Trombones – in the Music Man from the early 60s yesterday.
I was on the road just a bit going back and forth to lunch and gathering a few things for a report I am working on. My car registered 108 degrees on the highway at one point.
What was I thinking even getting out in that?
I could have gotten them to fax me that info and avoided the heat.
While I was out that evening I saw the high school band practicing. I just do not know how bands, football players, road workers, construction workers, etc. handle this heat. I do know this; they MUST be taking LOTS of water breaks and, in some cases, salt tablets.
My hat is off to those who must be out in this weather. You’re a stronger person than me when it comes to that.
I was really tempted to see if I could fry an egg on the pavement.
Even last night at 8:30 my gauge was registering in the mid 90s.
My wish for you today is that you avoid this kind of sweltering heat if you can. Maybe you can get out early in the morning instead or wait till after dark.
