Reflections From a Country Girl

There’s a song called Steam Heat from the 1957 musical – The Pajama Game.

I am reminded of that song this week and am sure everyone is talking about it…the heat that is.

I’m beginning to hear crazy things about what is happening to some people in this heat.

One man said his can of diet coke exploded in his new car yesterday. Besides the mess in the car, can you imagine the intense heat in an enclosed vehicle sitting in the sun? My car registered 109 yesterday when I got in it…and it was in partial shade.

Then there is the lady that was leaned over the steering wheel in a store parking lot. Seems she thought she had been shot and asked the inquirer to call an ambulance and the police. Turns out a can of biscuits exploded all over the car and she felt a piece of the biscuit dough on her forehead and thought it was her brains oozing out.

Aren’t you glad that wasn’t you?

My wish for you today is that you make the most of the heat and hydrate you and any animals or family you have often. It may feel like steam heat out there but this, too, will hopefully pass before long.
