Splish, Splash
Splish, Splash is a song I bet you remember Bobby Darin singing if you are 40 or older. It’s a cute song about relaxing in a nice bath but getting a real surprise as he opens the door after he dries off.
I love showers these days instead of baths. However, also LOVE a dip in the pool every now and then.
I was out of town this weekend and missed my favorite pool. The one we decided to go to was one located at some condos in
We opened the door to go in and walked over to check out the pool.
Little did we know we would get a surprise, just like Bobby Darin.
Now if it had been a party like he walked in on, that is one thing. That was not the case.
The pool was covered with algae. Yes, it was almost all green on the far end and a bit less on the shallow end.
Regardless, it was not pretty and, of course, we knew not to get in.
Being the weekend, there was little anyone could do. We did decide to leave a note at the office to let them know.
This was obviously not something that occurred overnight. I just wonder how many swam in that pool before it started turning green and got some bacteria they would not have wanted. I wonder how many may have gotten sick from that pool and not even realized they were in danger of that.
DHEC would close that pool down if they saw it, and we suggested that they would if they happened to come by and inspect.
I am very sure they will take care of this immediately when they see the note. If not, a DHEC visit will be immanent from the person I was with who lived there.
My wish for you today is that if you swim regularly at a public or even a private community pool, you ask questions and make sure it is taken care of properly BEFORE you get in. You may be sorry if you don’t and be saying “how was I to know…?†like Bobby Darin.
