Let the Celebrations Begin

It’s birthday time.

With my family and friends it means a month or more long of celebrating, dinners, meeting for drinks, etc.

Actually I favor this kind of spread out celebration – especially if has to do with MY birthday.

My first card came in the mail over two weeks ago. It was from someone who was anxious to send it because it was picked specifically for me and it was too funny to wait.

Then a friend shared a book with me because she would not be around during my birthday. It was another FUNNY Potato Queen book…one side was a marriage guide, the other a divorce guide.

Humh!

Then, because I thought I’d be out of town, a bunch of us singles gathered for drinks and dinner at Wild Wings…one of my favorite places. There was another set of extremely funny cards…and then a sweet one as well…plus lots of fun moments during the evening.

I don’t know about you, but I really like to get an assortment of cards. I ere on the side of funny, but sweet and kind cards touch my heart in a different place, too.

At this point, things are not as important to receive as people are to visit with…so I am happy right now.

Today my sister, mother, son, nephew and sister-in-law meet for a birthday lunch of sorts…at least with some of them.

Then it’s the actual birthday and I go to a wine tasting and dinner party with other friends.

Who knew birthdays could be so much fun when you’re 56?

My wish for you today is that you take every chance you can to celebrate life. It’s not the presents that count…it’s the presence.
