One Man’s Trash
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure†is a common saying among us.
Since I believe in recycling whenever possible, it is not uncommon for me to make a trip ever so often to Sharing God’s Love, Goodwill, or some other institution where I can donate things I will no longer use but that still have some life left in them.
The other night, some friends invited my sweetheart and me over to take a look at some old guns. It seems they had them for years and didn’t even know for sure if they were loaded. They didn’t want to touch them till we came over, and since my sweetheart is an expert at guns, they knew he would know how to manage them.
We got over there and determined they were a shotgun and a rifle.
They wanted to get rid of them since the grandchildren were getting older and offered them…so I quickly accepted both.
A little internet research identified them as guns that were made before serial numbers were required beginning in 1968. They were in good shape and I hope to shoot at least one of them in cowboy action shooting after they are reconditioned.
Yes, their “trash†became my treasure. I will provide them a good home and take good care of them.
My wish for you today is that you are willing to be the recipient of someone else’s trash when it’s offered to you. You may find a little pleasure and discover a great deal of history in such an unexpected treat!
