Never Wanted Nothin’ More
Yesterday was another July 4th holiday.
It was a day of rest and reflection for me. I had been working several intense 10 hour days and was ready for a break. Working on several projects – the focus had been pretty intense. I didn’t finish either project. The temptation was to get up early and spend some time early on July 4th working on both…even though I had promised myself I would take the day off.
I avoided the temptation to work and put my head back on the pillow about

I was reminded of the country song “Never Wanted Nothin’ More†as the day progressed. The song talks about the simple pleasures of life and the things that bring joy to living. It was a picture perfect day with the cool breezes coming in from the ocean and it reminded me that those simple things are sometimes the most pleasurable. We even had a chance to see large birds nesting in the oak trees at that park.
A good meal with wonderful people followed and then it was off to see how building progress was going on a new home…a little watermelon…and on to our home to see a movie and the fireworks outside as we sat at the living room window.
My wish for you today is that you enjoy the simple pleasures in life when you can and appreciate what you have. Don’t worry about the Jones or what you don’t have. Just savor the place and times you are in and adopt a never want nothin more attitude.
