Retired…again!

I’m 55 and I just retired for the second time yesterday.  You see, I “officially” finished my work as a school district employee after retiring late last July and went right back to work for another year.

With my three year grant ending at the end of July 2006, I wasn’t certain what I would be doing this time last year, so I went ahead and retired…just to go right back to work for a fourth year with the grant.

I know that sounds confusing, but it’s true.  We had some unspent money and were able to use it to complete some important transitions for our school district.

Those of you who know me realize I will really never “retire.”  There’s just too much to experience.I suspect many of you out there are the same.I never would have thought I could retire at 55.  I figured I would be working at least until my mid 60s.  So, I have been blessed beyond imagination to have accomplished this and am very grateful for those who have been a part of that journey. It’s an humbling experience, to say the least…this retirement. So what will I do next, you ask? I decided to go help my sweetheart pack up and move since he is buying a condo in Charleston.  That will be my first project as a retiree…and it should be fun since he is such a fun loving kind of guy. Then, it is back to reality as I work as a contractor to evaluate and complete a final grant report that will be done mid August. After that, it is on to new adventures! My wish for you today is that you embrace your life at whatever age you are and live it to the fullest.  After all, some of us may never make it to retirement age, but we should always be striving to live life daily to its fullest possible extent. ~ Joellen
