I Told You So

How many times have you heard this before…I told you so!

I had lunch with a good friend today. He has a daughter in her 20’s and she often makes decisions on the spur of the moment without thinking things out thoroughly…sometimes she talks with her father first…sometimes she doesn’t talk with him at all until she runs into a problem with her decision. As much as he tries not to say it the words “I told you so” come out of his mouth.

I think we all can certainly

Keith Urban sings a song “I Told You So.” It’s about the trivialities of relationships that can so quickly turn into something that “grows so foolishly.” Then, people can leave in anger just to cool down later, realizing that one wants to say “sorry” and the other has to bite their tongue to keep from saying “I told you so.” Keith sings that they realize “that for better or worse we’re better together.”

Relationships can be full of stress, can’t they? Sometimes it’s better not to be together at all…but most often it’s just a little bump in the road that, if handled right, can help a relationship grow stronger.

I’ve had my fair share of those…bumps in the road….that is. Actually, I’ve found that in all cases, they were just that…and taking care of the bumps did help develop stronger relationships.

My wish for you today is that you embrace differences and deal with them respectfully with each other. The better you are at dealing with them, the stronger your relationship can be. Just don’t say “I told you so!”
