Reflections From a Country Girl

Yesterday I celebrated a friend’s birthday with him by meeting him at one of his favorite places and taking him to lunch afterwards.

It’s always fun to shop and eat with friends…especially when there is something to celebrate. Going with George is no exception. He is fun to be with and always has the best stories to tell. His birthday was just another excuse to enjoy his company again.

Yesterday was no exception. I did not realize, however, that I would be experiencing such a wonderful treat when I entered the shop he has talked about frequently over the past few months.

I was on Cloud Nine in more ways than one.

You see, there is a shop on Gervais Street in the Vista called Cloud Nine.

This is not just any ole shop. It is full of delights ranging from edible confection treats as well as things like yellow grits, rice and specialty teas all made or grown right here in South Carolina. Then there was the delightful china and porcelain from all over the world, a large selection of body and bath items, baskets galore and kitchen/entertainment goodies fit for a queen. Yes, this place had it all. It really did make you feel like you were on “cloud nine” and all right here in Columbia. They also have a delightful coffee selection that will tempt anyone’s taste buds.

I have just returned from Pennsylvania and New Jersey where many of the specialty shops looked like this one. Just think, now I don’t have to go that far to get what I want…

Next Monday they will begin serving lunch and you, too, can go by and savor the moment while you peruse their goodies.

Thanks, Could Nine, for making my day a little more enjoyable. Your staff was exceptional and your collection will continue to be tempting. I can see why George loves it there.

My wish for you today is that you take the time to visit Cloud Nine and enjoy the sights, sounds and fragrances. Take a friend with you!
