Nothing Could be Finer…
It’s Monday morning. I’m back in town after ten days away. Work starts back up for me in less than an hour and a half.
You may be confused by this statement but I’m not.
I love to take vacations. I love seeing new places and being with friends. I love meeting new people and experiencing new things. I love traveling around our country.
But, like the song so melodically says “nothing could be finer than to be in
I had a reprieve from the heat while I was in NJ. They were having a heat wave there some of the time I visited, but the humidity was so different than ours that you would never have known it was 90 degrees on one or two of those days we was there.
As we left Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m. (yes, I am a morning person!) to return to
By the time we hit the NC/SC border it was 100 degrees.
However, that’s the only thing I did not miss about our dear State.
Now don’t get me wrong. I LOVED visiting with extremely hospitable friends – new and old. I thrilled at the horse races,
But there were no grits, few places with REAL ice tea, no Southern hospitality and very few Southern drawl friends like I have here. There were no cowboys…and the gun laws were so tight in NJ and the surrounding area that one couldn’t even take a pistol for protection…that’s a whole other story.
So, all said and done, I am glad to be heading back to work and getting into a routine unique to my Southern heritage back here in good ole South Carolina…that is until I am on the road again shortly.
My wish for you today is that you have a chance to explore our country. It will give you a better appreciation for the community, the county and the state you live in…where nothing could be finer.
