You Are My Sunshine

I know you know the song “You Are My Sunshine.” It’s a children’s song you probably sang when you were younger.

So who is your sunshine?

Now if you have a family living in the same house with you, you probably would say it is one of them…maybe a spouse, a child, an elderly parent…even a small baby.

If you’re single…that may be a bit more of a challenge if you’re not dating anyone. Perhaps your Dad calls you his sunshine or at least you may have a fond memory of that interaction between you and one of your parents.

Ok, if not, then maybe it’s a friend or other relative. Maybe you volunteer with older adults or children and you have a class full of “sunshines.”

Everyone ought to have at least one sunshine in their life.

I still sing that song on occasion…often early in the morning when my sweetheart occasionally calls before he goes to work.

So how would you describe the sunshine of your life?

For most of us, that would be someone who makes us excited about getting up in the morning…someone who makes us feel like it’s a bright and sunny day when it’s cloudy and rainy…someone who perks us up when we’re down…someone we can talk to about anything and feel better about it after the conversation.

My wish for you today is that you have many “sunshines” in your life and that you are able to be a ray of sunshine in someone else’s life. We can all use a bit more of that kind of glowing spirit in our lives. May your life be so overflowing with joy that you have just enough to share with others.
