Do You Have a Passion for Life?

How is your passion meter these days?

Ok. I know some of you are thinking about something different than I am…but that is ok. Sexual passions are great, too.

Today, however, let’s think a minute about the passion for living life to the fullest.

I recently saw a sign in a store that is now over the doorframe in my kitchen. It says “Live well, Laugh Often, Love Much.” Since I go in and out of the kitchen a good bit, I put it there to remind me often that I need to do those things.

We all know it’s easy to get in a rut from time to time. It happens to the best of us.

There are some of us, however, who seem to have a never ending zeal for life. It shows in our faces and in our attitudes. Now it’s not always easy to keep up appearances if we, too, occasionally feel down. There is, however, something about people with a zest for life that many of us like to be around…especially if we aspire to be the same way.

I suspect there is a natural inclination toward having a passion for life…almost a talent for it…maybe even a gift of having it. I also suspect that many of us who have a passion for life simply take it for granted and don’t understand what all the hoopla is about. It’s just a natural part of our lives, we think.

If you are not one of those who have a built in passion for life, there is hope. I have seen the most depressed person come out of a funk and change within weeks.

Here are some starters to consider if you want to make a few changes in this area:

• remember life is way too short to take yourself too seriously
• surround yourself with people who look at how you can do something instead of those who think of a million reasons why you can’t
• embrace your spiritual being
• take care of yourself physically
• take care of yourself emotionally
• find friends who support and encourage
• volunteer
• laugh hard
• love passionately…and often
• embrace challenges with a positive attitude
• rest adequately
• take a deep breath
• take your time
• write

My wish for you today is that you “Live well, Laugh Often, Love Much, be Passionate.” Life is just too darn short to do it any other way.
