Darrell Worley sings a song called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sounds Like Life to Me\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. \u00c2\u00a0He gives several instances including a call from his friend\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wife who says her husband – Johnny – \u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153got off the wagon\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. She asks if Darrell could help find him since he had been gone for two hours.\u00c2\u00a0 He was, as she suspected, at a local watering hole. The less than sober Johnny explained that things were piling up on him….that he had a sister who has a car that is falling apart, a mother that he had to put in a nursing home and not enough money to take care of the bills. On top of that his wife thinks she may be pregnant again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whew.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We all know people that have lots of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153things\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 happen to them all at once….stuff like what Darrell talks about and sings a pretty decent song about. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Then we know the ones that seem to always have everything going their way – right?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Actually – as a more \u00e2\u20ac\u0153mature\u00e2\u20ac\u009d woman now – I have to say that I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know too many people who have had a life full of ease – though I do admit I think having money COULD make it easier.\u00c2\u00a0 Most of us have stuff happening to us and our loved ones…yes….some more than others but that is just up to now. There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s still a lot of living to go.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

When I got this myelodyspalsia syndrome that developed quickly into the acute myeologenous leukemia\u00c2\u00a0 – and after the shock has worn off and I am in treatment – I keep reminding myself that this is life.\u00c2\u00a0 Things happen. In this case, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pretty useless to spend any time on why I have this or how I got it.\u00c2\u00a0 It is strange that my husband and two good friends had and died with the same thing.\u00c2\u00a0 But there again, as Darrell Worley sings, sounds like life to me.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I go into my third round of chemo this week.\u00c2\u00a0 The side effects have been manageable.\u00c2\u00a0 I asked about coming home for a few weeks in between treatments but the doctors say the risks far outweigh the benefits and suggested webcasts with friends instead.\u00c2\u00a0 So, those with web cameras bring it on.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m ready for you to see my short and graying hair!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Sounds like life to me.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

My wish for you today is that you remember that – when things happen – it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just life happening.\u00c2\u00a0 The best you can do is deal with it and be as positive as possible and proactive as possible. Otherwise you may wind up in a bar drowning your sorrows like Johnny.<\/span><\/p>\n
