{"id":637,"date":"2009-06-16T18:00:22","date_gmt":"2009-06-16T22:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=637"},"modified":"2009-06-16T18:05:25","modified_gmt":"2009-06-16T22:05:25","slug":"when-i-get-where-im-going-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=637","title":{"rendered":"When I Get Where I&#8217;m Going (Part 2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal\" class=\"Apple-style-span\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">Before I went to Houston to see my beloved sister Joellen, I found a reflection that she had written in March 2007 about our childhood friends, sisters,\u00c2\u00a0who were dealing with cancer.\u00c2\u00a0 It was so moving to me because it was her words describing what to do if you find yourself or a loved one in that situation&#8230; and here we are&#8230; in that situation.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">I read that to her in the hospital and we cried together over it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">I was so thrilled to be able to spend five days with her at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and there is no way that I can write nor would you want to read many pages of my reflections of my trip.\u00c2\u00a0 I am not nearly as eloquent as she is . .. she got all the talent in the family!\u00c2\u00a0 I am looking forward to her reflections when she is better\u00c2\u00a0 and she can share her experiences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">I will share some of the highlights. \u00c2\u00a0I was touched by the devotion and tenderness of Pierce as he takes care of his mother and keeps her thinking positively.\u00c2\u00a0 (Many of the nursing staff commented on his devotion to her!)\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I was touched by the many kindnesses of strangers especially the &#8220;ground angels&#8221; volunteer group that gave me rides back and forth from the airport to the hospital\u00c2\u00a0including Saturday morning at 5:00 am.\u00c2\u00a0 I was touched by my new friend Bev, a nurse at the hospital,\u00c2\u00a0who gave me a\u00c2\u00a0comfortable home away from home which was only 3 walking blocks away from the hospital.\u00c2\u00a0 I was touched by Hannah, a young\u00c2\u00a0doctorate student who\u00c2\u00a0volunteers at the hospital every Tuesday and came to Joellen&#8217;s room to\u00c2\u00a0share her beautiful gift of playing the violin just for us.\u00c2\u00a0 I am so glad that\u00c2\u00a0I was able to share and experience all of these and I was moved deeply!<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">Now back to my title.\u00c2\u00a0 How do you say goodbye to your beloved sister in this situation?\u00c2\u00a0 I plan to go back\u00c2\u00a0to see her later in July,\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 My hope is that she will be feeling much better then!\u00c2\u00a0 As my days ticked quickly by, I began to dread the moment that I had to leave to return home.\u00c2\u00a0 It would be hard, but through\u00c2\u00a0my scripture reading and prayers, I knew that my\u00c2\u00a0Lord would continue to give me and her just what\u00c2\u00a0we needed as he had clearly done all week.\u00c2\u00a0 The most important and greatest need\u00c2\u00a0of all of us is to know &#8220;where I&#8217;m going.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 And Jesus Christ took care of all of that for us on the cross.\u00c2\u00a0 When Joellen\u00c2\u00a0said &#8220;I&#8217;m going to be healed, either there (in eternity in heaven) or here.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope it is here,&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 I was comforted to know that she knows exactly &#8220;where\u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m going.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 That&#8217;s the most important thing for all of us . .. there is no final goodbye . ..
