Thankfully the CT scan revealed no clot, but then we found out that she does have acute myelogenous leukemia (ACL), which is what my dad passed away from. The doctor I talked to about this reminded me that a lot has changed in twenty years, and that they are doing things here for treatment that no other hospital in the world is doing. In one doctors words, MD Anderson is the “Mecca for Leukemia.” Awesome. Also, although it has now advanced to leukemia, the “blasts” in her blood are much lower than they could be, and that is positive.Â

I must again express sharply just how great and on top of things I feel like the entire staff here is. I’d want them to give me a band aid for a paper cut and I’d feel better about it.Â

After the scary afternoon and evening yesterday, she is now feeling much more aware and awake. Of course, she is doing her best to stay positive and optimistic, as are the staff here.

Thanks,

PierceÂ

A brief update, since yesterday. Within an hour of the previous update, mom aspirated, which made her very, very short of breath, and induced severe shivering.
