{"id":577,"date":"2008-11-04T01:06:31","date_gmt":"2008-11-04T05:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=577"},"modified":"2008-11-04T01:06:31","modified_gmt":"2008-11-04T05:06:31","slug":"killing-me-softly-with-his-song","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=577","title":{"rendered":"Killing Me Softly With His Song"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><strong>Killing Me Softly With His Song&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">I had a call late tonight.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a friend who had been reading some of my reflections and she was concerned.\u00c2\u00a0 She said some of the more recent ones hit remarkably close to home with her.\u00c2\u00a0 She said it was so close that she wondered if I were actually talking about her.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">Our conversation made me think of the song Robert Flack made popular in 1971 &#8211; \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Killing Me Softly With His Song.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I felt all flushed with fever<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">Embarrassed by the crowd<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">I felt he found my letters<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">And read each one out loud<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">I prayed that he would finish<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">But he just kept right on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">He sang as if he knew me<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">In all my dark despair&#8230;\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">My written thoughts were not about her, but I can see why she said that after we talked.\u00c2\u00a0 She was sure I had been watching her when she wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t looking.\u00c2\u00a0 We talked. She understood where I was coming from with my writing. I understood and appreciated that she was struggling with things and that she found some comfort talking with me. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">This is not the first time this has happened.\u00c2\u00a0 I recently saw a trailer for a movie that reflected a few things so closely to what has gone on with me in a situation that I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been dealing with lately that I thought the same thing. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">All this said, I bet this happens often&#8230;you read something that sounds like you, see something that has the same characteristics of a situation you are dealing with, or just plain hits something on the head so well that it touches a nerve or an emotion.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">I draw on many life circumstances when I write. Since I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been around over 57 years, there are lots to draw from.\u00c2\u00a0 Some have to do with me.\u00c2\u00a0 Some have to do with friends. Some have to do with those I know at work or play.\u00c2\u00a0 Some have to do with those I simply do not know but observe.\u00c2\u00a0 I make every attempt not to mention names or to give away too much information that indicates who people are.\u00c2\u00a0 After all, what I talk about is more important than who I talk about. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\">One thing I know is that there are many of us who are dealing with issues&#8230;important ones to us&#8230;and are doing so quietly.\u00c2\u00a0 We hurt privately.\u00c2\u00a0 We cry privately.\u00c2\u00a0 When we see something in writing or hear something that sounds like us&#8230;we stop and listen.\u00c2\u00a0 We are amazed at those who are experiencing some of the same things we do.\u00c2\u00a0 We even take comfort in knowing there are others out there dealing with the same kind of things we are.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: normal normal normal 12px\/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><strong>My wish for you today<\/strong> is that you find comfort with a trusted friend when you need that.\u00c2\u00a0 Having a friend to talk with can make all the difference to you when you are dealing with issues.
