One thing I love about this time of year is decorating.\u00c2\u00a0 Come to think of it, I like to decorate all year round, right down to the flower pots scattered around my yard and patio. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I learned long ago that I could not put live flowers out if I wanted squirrels.\u00c2\u00a0 The first three years I lived here those cute – but occasionally pesky – little creatures would eat all the flowers off the plants…no matter what time of year or what kind of flowers I put out. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

After awhile that began to gnaw on my nerves…no pun intended.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I decided to try silk flowers one season and, sure enough, that stopped the disappearance of the foliage. \u00c2\u00a0 Now I have artificial flowers for all seasons.\u00c2\u00a0 Recently I decided to replace the pink geraniums with golden flowers and fall leaf stems.\u00c2\u00a0 In addition to those plants, I have added a few well placed door wreaths and a large scarecrow on the side door with a sign being held by his straw filled hands that says \u00e2\u20ac\u0153welcome.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Last night my neighbors turned on the light at the side of their house.\u00c2\u00a0 It shines down on the yard closest to the kitchen.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I had a hard time going to sleep for some reason so it was after one when I decided to get a bit of water.\u00c2\u00a0 I have no problem walking around in the house in the dark so I made my way down the hall and toward the kitchen.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The sight I saw made me want to turn around and get my gun. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

At the door, clearly showing through the window, was the frame of a man with a hat on.\u00c2\u00a0 Was he trying to break in?\u00c2\u00a0 What in the world was he thinking standing at my door with the full spotlight from the neighbor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s light shining on him?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Wait.\u00c2\u00a0 He wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t moving.\u00c2\u00a0 Did he hear me coming down the hall and freeze in hopes I would not see him there?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Then I laughed.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

It was the scarecrow I had placed on the door several days ago. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

After I chuckled at myself for not paying closer attention, I decided to make sure my son – who would have been equally as concerned and protective, who would have not known that I placed the scarecrow there and who would think it was a man at the door and have gone to get the gun – know what was going on. \u00c2\u00a0 I sure didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want a hole in the door or my neighbors to be spooked.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Ah the fall.\u00c2\u00a0 It brings out the scaries in the best of us.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

My wish for you today<\/em><\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0is that you enjoy the fall weather, complete with decorations and plenty of light in the night so you can see clearly outside.\u00c2\u00a0 Just make sure you are aware of what is around you to avoid any kind of incident. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
