Right about now you are thinking one of two things.\u00c2\u00a0 I am either packing boxes to move or packin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 my pistol.\u00c2\u00a0 Guess it depends on which side of the fence you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re on.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I actually do pack from time to time…my pistol that is.\u00c2\u00a0 You see, when I travel, and I do a great deal of that, I always carry my pistol with me. \u00c2\u00a0 I am careful about where I travel with it as there are as many laws that vary on carrying a concealed weapon as there are states. Each one seems to be a little different…well, a LOT different in some states.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

There is some national legislation currently before Congress that may allow those of us who have a state issued concealed weapons permits to have a national concealed weapons permit.\u00c2\u00a0 I am all for that.\u00c2\u00a0 After all, if I am going to take the time to go thought the rigorous background check and take the equally as stringent gun course, I would like to be able to carry it with me anywhere I go. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I do practice with my pistol fairly regularly.\u00c2\u00a0 I think it is very important to feel comfortable with a weapon if you are going to have one.\u00c2\u00a0 I also think it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s very important not to pick one up if you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know how to use it and to be \u00e2\u20ac\u0153scared\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of them if you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know how to use them.\u00c2\u00a0 I have friends and family on both sides of that issue.\u00c2\u00a0 I love them all and they at least respect me for going through the concealed weapons process.\u00c2\u00a0 I also am involved with the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) here in Columbia (http:\/\/www.palmettoposse.org\/<\/a>)\u00c2\u00a0and in a place called Possum Trot (www.possumtrot.org<\/a>)\u00c2\u00a0and love to watch my cowboy and cowgirl friends compete in that event.\u00c2\u00a0 We all have a deep-seeded respect for guns and are very careful with them. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now to the other kind of packin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My newly married friends – who I introduced to each other at a cowboy shooting event -\u00c2\u00a0 are blending two homes together.\u00c2\u00a0 One is in Columbia and the other near Augusta.\u00c2\u00a0 They are living in the Augusta house and are getting the one in Columbia ready to sell. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been helping them pack.\u00c2\u00a0 Since I love to do this sort of thing, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been having great fun with it.\u00c2\u00a0 There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just something about deciding what to keep and give away, what might be in the dark corners of a well worn room, etc.\u00c2\u00a0 I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tell you how many times I heard this weekend \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I wondered where that got to!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My wish for you today<\/strong> is that you enjoy whatever you find yourself doing with others.\u00c2\u00a0 You can find some wonderful friendships with people by doing the simplest things.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
