{"id":378,"date":"2007-08-16T06:24:55","date_gmt":"2007-08-16T10:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=378"},"modified":"2007-08-16T06:24:55","modified_gmt":"2007-08-16T10:24:55","slug":"send-me-a-song","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=378","title":{"rendered":"Send me A Song"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I had some friends over for dinner last night.<span>  <\/span>As usual, I slipped on a favorite cd for some background music.<span>  <\/span>One of the songs on the Celtic Women cd, <strong><em>Send me a Song<\/em><\/strong>, is one I enjoy often.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--more-->I had just shared that song with my son and his girlfriend the night before, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As I sat with my friends last night I realized one of them had something in common with my son\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s girlfriend.<span>  <\/span>They were both getting ready to head back to school soon.<\/p>\n<p>Now that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not so unusual for his girlfriend.<span>  <\/span>It is, however, quite something for my dinner guest to be going back to college. She quit a great job several years ago to go to college fulltime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">There are some people willing to do that when they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re young. I even stayed out of college several years working until I decided I really wanted to go.<span>  <\/span>My friend, however, will turn 50 this year\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6so she would have been 48 when she started the four year journey. <span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We are all so proud of her.<span>  <\/span>After all, she is following her dream just like the young girl friend of my son\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s who is in her early 20s.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In <strong><em>Send me a Song<\/em><\/strong> it tells about someone who is leaving a loved one to start a new adventure. It occurs to me there are many who are getting ready to send their loved ones off on a new journeys to college and jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">One section of the song is particularly appropriate here&#8230;not just for those leaving on new adventures but for those of us who stay behind and wish the best to loved ones going on a continuing journey.<span>  <\/span>Let me share it with you\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don&#8217;t look back when you reach the <a href=\"javascript:void(0)\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit; color: windowtext; text-decoration: none\">new<\/span><\/a> shore<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t forget what you&#8217;re leaving me for<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t forget when you&#8217;re missing me so<br \/>\nLove must never hold, never hold tight, but let go.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><em>My wish for you today<\/em><\/strong> is that you celebrate with those leaving to go off to college \u00e2\u20ac\u201c or for that matter \u00e2\u20ac\u201c any new adventure.<span>  <\/span>Risk is often what makes life interesting.
