{"id":343,"date":"2007-07-04T06:08:12","date_gmt":"2007-07-04T10:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=343"},"modified":"2007-07-04T06:08:36","modified_gmt":"2007-07-04T10:08:36","slug":"it-must-be-july-4th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=343","title":{"rendered":"It Must Be July 4th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It seems that every July 4<sup>th<\/sup> the same thing happens.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->For many of us, that means celebrations with family and friends and lots of watermelon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This year I celebrate the 4<sup>th<\/sup> in <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Charleston<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">For the past ten years &#8211; at least for many of those years &#8211; another strange phenomenon has occurred.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The air conditioner has gone out either in the car, the house or wherever I am around this holiday.<span>   <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This year was no exception.<span>  <\/span>Yesterday, in the midst of helping pack the belongings of my sweetheart to move, the air conditioner went out.<span>  <\/span>Even though it happened very early in the morning, we were unable to get it fixed, so here I am, once again, living in no AC for the 4<sup>th<\/sup>.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m writing this article in the dark at 5:54 a.m. The ceiling fan is running on high above my head and the birds have begun to sing.<span>  <\/span>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s getting light outside and the sky is clear.<span>  <\/span>I just finished a bowl of couscous. Its 64 right now with a promise of 89 before the day is out\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6and clear\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6perfect for a July 4<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We were going to have a little get together here but changed those plans after the AC went out.<span>  <\/span>We will be going to someone else\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s home after checking to make sure there is AC there\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6at least until I get there\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6then, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s anyone\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s guess.<span>  <\/span>I have not told them my story of the air conditioner blues on July 4h.<span>  <\/span>Perhaps that will be one of the topics of conversation today.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Most of the time there has been only one incident of AC being out at one time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Hopefully, this will not be the year I sent a new \u00e2\u20ac\u0153AC out\u00e2\u20ac\u009d record!<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It really is amazing that air conditioning has become such a staple in everyday living here.<span>  <\/span>I remember as a child that we were fine with everyday summer living in the upper part of SC.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So, to all of you who are living comfortably reading this in your nicely air conditioned place, be glad you have what you need to feel comfortable on this 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and watch out for me around this time of year.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>My wish for you today<\/strong> is that you enjoy your holiday with family and\/or friends and find comfort wherever you are.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">~ Joellen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems that every July 4th the same thing happens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[32,16],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-343","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-holidays","category-life-events"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/343","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=343"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/343\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=343"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=343"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=343"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
