{"id":341,"date":"2007-07-02T00:30:29","date_gmt":"2007-07-02T04:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=341"},"modified":"2007-07-02T00:41:38","modified_gmt":"2007-07-02T04:41:38","slug":"the-lighthouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=341","title":{"rendered":"The Lighthouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When my sister and I were teenagers we loved to sing a song called <strong><em>The Lighthouse<\/em><\/strong>.<span>  <\/span><!--more-->It was a Christian based duet about a lighthouse and also about that light leading you down the right path.<\/p>\n<p>So what kind of light sources have lead you safely through the night in your life?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I am first reminded of the night lights as a child.<span>  <\/span>We put them out so our little ones would be able to see in the dark.<span>  <\/span>I still have them interspersed in various locations of my house so I can see in the night if I need to move around without falling all over myself.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">One \u00e2\u20ac\u0153beacon\u00e2\u20ac\u009d that stands out in my mind is the one at <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Lake Junaluska<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">NC<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>.<span>  <\/span>The story is told of the train engineers who went through that sleepy little mountainous area during the night. <span> <\/span>They would look forward to seeing the lit cross; located on top of the highest peak at the <st1:place w:st=\"on\">Lake<\/st1:place> even in the densest fog.<span>   <\/span>It has now become a permanent fixture of the area for both locals and tourists in the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p><\/o:p><a href=\"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/carolina-day-and-sulivans-island-on-june-28-2007-037.jpg\" title=\"carolina-day-and-sulivans-island-on-june-28-2007-037.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/carolina-day-and-sulivans-island-on-june-28-2007-037.thumbnail.jpg\" title=\"carolina-day-and-sulivans-island-on-june-28-2007-037.jpg\" alt=\"carolina-day-and-sulivans-island-on-june-28-2007-037.jpg\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This week I saw another amazing beacon that hails the ships coming into <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Charleston<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s port.<span>  <\/span>The lighthouse at Sullivan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Island has been there since 1962 and marks the entrance to the <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Charleston<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> harbor.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p>Of course, there are our heavenly beacons of light \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the moon and stars \u00e2\u20ac\u201c that have kept many a wayward sailor from running into things on the open water \u00e2\u20ac\u201c not to mention showing them the way to land.
