I started a 12 hour driving venture with my sweetheart.<\/p>\n<p>Since it was such a long trip we decided to drive six hours and wound up in Staunton, Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>As I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve gotten older, I like to stay in hotels less and less.  There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just something about staying in a place that you know many folks have stayed in before you.  \u00e2\u20ac\u0153No matter how clean it looks,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d I thought to myself \u00e2\u20ac\u0153it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not as clean as you want you place to be when you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re sleeping and living in it.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Well, my thoughts were challenged today.  We decided on a hotel right off the interstate \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a Sleep Inn.  I had heard of that chain but had never stayed at one.<\/p>\n<p>This place was different.<\/p>\n<p>We were greeted by Bill at the desk.  When he saw where we were from, he immediately started up a conversation about his father who had worked on the Amtrak commuter train years ago.  He mentioned they stopped at Columbia and often had over 600 passengers on those long trips.<\/p>\n<p>Bill was not the usual front desk man.  He was actually quite pleasant and spoke to me each time he saw me\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6calling my name.<\/p>\n<p>He said breakfast will be tomorrow morning\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6complimentary, of course.  \u00e2\u20ac\u0153There is wireless internet\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he said when I asked.   \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Complimentary.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>I smiled as I walked to the room.  I placed my toiletries on the counter<a href=\"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/rubber-ducky.jpg\" title=\"rubber-ducky.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/rubber-ducky.thumbnail.jpg\" title=\"rubber-ducky.jpg\" alt=\"rubber-ducky.jpg\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a> and spotted a tiny yellow ducky on the sink with a note that said \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Take me my friend, to remind you of where you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6in hopes you will return again.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Now I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know about you, but I like little rubber duckies and this one is really cute.<\/p>\n<p>Will I go back there again?  You bet I will.<\/p>\n<p>On the way out that next morning after a pleasant rest and a great breakfast, we engaged the maids in pleasant conversation and mentioned that I just LOVED the ducky\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6next thing I knew, we had four more to go with the other one!<\/p>\n<p><strong>My wish for you today<\/strong> is that you have a pleasant experience with a hotel like we did\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6and that you, too, have a chance to add a little rubber ducky or two to your family!<\/p>\n<p>~ Joellen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fun to go on a long trip.
