{"id":271,"date":"2007-05-22T10:55:48","date_gmt":"2007-05-22T10:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=271"},"modified":"2007-06-02T13:21:29","modified_gmt":"2007-06-02T13:21:29","slug":"yo-ho-yo-ho-a-pirates-life-for-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=271","title":{"rendered":"Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate&#8217;s Life for Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some time ago I was reviewing some of my genealogy papers.  <\/p>\n<p>Come to find out, I had a pirate or two on both sides of my family\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6maybe that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the reason I was drawn to see the tall ships in Charleston\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s port this past weekend as part of the Maritime Festival.  <\/p>\n<p><!--more-->There were pirates and even a few \u00e2\u20ac\u0153wenches\u00e2\u20ac\u009d acting out their dreams of being maties on the high seas. <\/p>\n<p>The ships were magnificent.  As I walked that pier visiting each one, I dreamed of what it would be like to be carefree and sail the world from port to port.  <\/p>\n<p>Yes, I suspect a pirate\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s life was full of color and intrigue\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6also one of lots of hard work and danger.  I listened to what these folks had to do to keep the ships in tip top shape.  I suspect the glamour wears off quickly and you either work hard on deck or you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re booted off \u00e2\u20ac\u201c or worse \u00e2\u20ac\u201c made to walk the gangplank!<\/p>\n<p>I decided I could have been a part of that life back then\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but only if I were the queen.  It seemed way too much work for my liking\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6and I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t usually fret hard work, mind you.   <\/p>\n<p><strong>My wish for you today<\/strong> is that you get a chance to see these tall, magnificent ships when they are in port along your way.
