{"id":216,"date":"2007-03-21T15:31:23","date_gmt":"2007-03-21T15:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=216"},"modified":"2007-03-22T21:04:48","modified_gmt":"2007-03-22T21:04:48","slug":"all-my-rowdy-friends-are-coming-over-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com\/?p=216","title":{"rendered":"All My Rowdy Friends are Coming over Tonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><em>All My Rowdy Friends are Coming over Tonight<\/em><\/strong> is one of those fast paced &#8211; get yourself in trouble &#8211; country songs.\u00c2\u00a0 Hank Williams, Jr. sings the song about being a mess but inviting all his rowdy friends over for a party at his place in the woods anyway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know about you, but I would <strong>have<\/strong> to have a place in the woods to have a party like that.\u00c2\u00a0 If I even thought about a wild party with my friends in my neighborhood I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d be in big trouble.\u00c2\u00a0 The houses are so close together that it would make for some interesting talk later on.\u00c2\u00a0 Even though I frequently invite my neighbors to my gatherings, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s only so much partying you can do in my neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Now I do have parties and folks over that enjoy each other\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s company&#8230;just no pigs in the ground cooking or lots of beer on ice like the song says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">My favorites are theme parties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I once had a wedding party with some of the people I worked with.\u00c2\u00a0 We were all married or were in-between marriages or relationships.\u00c2\u00a0 We had a Greek wedding feast \u00e2\u20ac\u201c complete with ouzo and homemade baklava &#8211; and brought our wedding pictures.\u00c2\u00a0 Most brought their wedding gowns.\u00c2\u00a0 A few of them could still wear theirs and modeled them for the rest of us while we looked on with a bit of envy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Holiday parties are always fun to have.\u00c2\u00a0 Valentine\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Day we had a party once when my son was small.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll never forget the look on his face when he saw his Dad dressed like Cupid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Then there was St. Patty\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Day when his Dad, once again donned a costume.\u00c2\u00a0 This time he was a Leprechaun&#8230;though I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve seen one quite like that since.\u00c2\u00a0 I still have some of that costume that is over 23 years old now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The biggest party, which was rowdy just because of the crowd involved, had 397 people come through my house in four hours during the Christmas season. Having that many people come in a house in four hours was a miracle in itself! Thank goodness there were lots of ways in and out.\u00c2\u00a0 I cooked for two months before this one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The weirdest party I had was at Halloween.\u00c2\u00a0 I think everyone tried to out do the other in both costume and appetizers.\u00c2\u00a0 The one food I just could not make myself eat was a green dip filled pumpkin with plastic bloodshot eyeballs looking up at you.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I heard it was good but I wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t about to eat anything that had eyeballs looking up at me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">There was also chocolate covered palmetto bugs that I refused to eat.\u00c2\u00a0 Someone had carefully made the solid chocolate bugs from a candy mold.\u00c2\u00a0 However, because I simply can not stand those bugs, I was not about to eat something that looked like one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Who in the world makes palmetto bug candy molds anyway?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">One of the most interesting parties was the one between Christmas and New Years where we all dressed up like cowboys and cowgirls.\u00c2\u00a0 That turned out to be a really fun time since many of the people there really were cowboys and cowgirls.\u00c2\u00a0 Come to think of it, we were a little rowdier than usual&#8230;but what cowboys aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">These are just a few of the more memorable ones I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had.\u00c2\u00a0 There are even stranger ones I was invited to &#8211; like the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153murder mystery party\u00e2\u20ac\u009d where we had to come as one of the characters involved in a murder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Come to think if it, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s about time for another one.
